A TOWERING OBSESSION

A TOWERING OBSESSION

In a few words
A TOWERING OBSESSION (ATO) is a tribute to the creative process, to the beauty and frustration of the unfinished state, the imperfect shape. It is intended as an exploration, a visual narrative tracking the various stages of the creative process. Its abstract forms and constellations of shapes and clusters of colours refers to both the mechanical and natural.
From The Notebook
In ATO, every sculpture, drawing, sketch, is part of the same process, and so I don’t separate between finished and unfinished as every element has its place.
When and Where
First exhibited in 2007, ATO one of Solberg’s ‘neverending’ projects. What started a single exhibition project soon developed into a continuous sculptural exploration, with sculptures ranging in size from from ten centimetres to several meters, in materials ranging from chocolate and port-liver pate to plaster and cast-iron.

ATO PROJECT SPACE, a complete database of sculptures, sketches, videos, diaries, tracking every success and failure will launch in 2023.

An early preview of ATO PROJECT SPACE is available upon request.
Here is a tiny selection of the sculptures and drawings from A TOWERING OBSESSION between 2007 and 2020. The purpose of the gallery is to show some of the different materials, techniques, aesthetics and concept that goes into this project.

ATO PROJECT SPACE, the online project database will chronicle each sculpture. ATO Project Space is scheduled to launch in 2023.
